MANUAL THERAPY
Manual therapy is a type of physical therapy that involves hands-on techniques used to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions. It includes a range of techniques, including soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and manipulation, which are used to relieve pain, improve range of motion, and enhance physical function.
At Kairos Physio, we utilize manual therapy as part of a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to care. Our physiotherapists are trained in the latest manual therapy techniques, including Mulligan's technique and McKenzie technique, and use these to help our patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Mulligan's technique is a manual therapy approach that focuses on the assessment and treatment of joints and muscles. Mulligan's technique involves the use of specific manual techniques, including mobilization with movement, to help improve joint function and relieve pain. The mobilization with movement technique involves moving a joint through its full range of motion while the therapist applies a gentle force to help the joint move more freely. This technique is often used to treat joints that have become stiff or have limited range of motion due to injury, arthritis, or other conditions.
McKenzie technique, on the other hand, is a method of physical therapy that focuses on the patient's active involvement in their own care. It emphasizes education and the use of specific exercises to help patients manage their condition, reduce pain, and improve physical function. The McKenzie technique is based on the idea that many musculoskeletal conditions, such as low back pain, can be managed through specific exercises and movements.
At Kairos Physio, our physiotherapists use manual therapy techniques to provide effective, individualized treatment plans for our patients. Our patient-centered approach, combined with advanced techniques and expert staff, sets us apart and allows us to make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.
"Manual therapy is a symphony of touch, sensation, and skill, creating a harmony between the therapist's hands and the body's tissues, resulting in improved movement, reduced pain, and increased vitality." - Unknown
